Trade Fair Discounts
 
For many companies, the trade fair discounts are one of the most significant tangible savings. With the GA offering discounts for both the Spring and Autumn Fairs in Birmingham, the Torquay Fair, Scotland’s Trade Fair Spring and Autumn and the British Craft Trade Fair many members realise significant savings. In some cases savings alone can cover the cost of membership.
 
Companies need to be a member for six months to be eligible to receive any trade fair discounts.

Copywatch
 
  • The Design Deposit Scheme – 25 designs per annum can be deposited with the GA for free, providing you with an externally filed audit trail and potential savings in disputes.
  • Solicitors and Patent Agents offer 30 minutes free advice on IP issues (worth £100).
  • Contracts for licensing and confidentiality agreements, saves members a minimum of £50 each contract.
 
Credit Card Processing
 
  • A company with a credit card turnover of £75,000, currently paying 2% on credit card turnover, with GA preferential streamline rates would save over £550 per year on their credit card processing alone. (Please note the savings are calculated using a blended Visa and Mastercard credit card rate of 1.205% and are based on face to face rates only)

Credit Circles/Online Credit Community
 
  • Sharing information on bad debts which can often lead to early recovery of goods and reduced losses. GA members save over £500 on the cost of becoming part of the online community.  
 
Credit Watch/Cash Flow
 
  • An average size company can save £400 in service fees and £500 on funds using the considerable savings offered by Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance on factoring.
  • Debt recovery – recovering old debts can be worth a minimum of £100.
  • Watch Out service of bad payers – not supplying someone appearing on the list – minimum order of £500 saved.

Legal Helpline
 
  • GA Legal Helpline saves £100 on immediate free advice on a range of legal issues.
  • Employment issues – free 30 minutes advice could save a claim of £1000 and above.
  • Agents helpline – free advice specifically on employment of agents – potential savings of hundreds of pounds on a compensation claim.
  • Property helpline – free and direct access to advice on a whole range of property issues which can help members reduce their rates and rents. 
 
Trading Standards
 
  • Free helpline, guidelines and dispute arbitration service.
  • One phone call seeking assistance on a trading standards issue could save a considerable amount of time and money.
  • A ten minute phone call offering advice and direction worth £85.
 
Import
 
  • Free helpline. Half an hours free advice worth £75.
  • Potential savings from advice being taken and trading not being interrupted.
  • Advice on tariff classification may save hundreds or thousands of pounds.

Private Healthcare
 
  • Savings from 8% to 40% off standard BUPA rates, subject to criteria.

Insurance
 
  • Discounted and comprehensive insurance cover, tailored to the needs of the gift and home industry.

Packaging Waste Compliance Scheme
 
  • Applicable to companies with a turnover above £2million per annum which handle at least 50 tonnes a year of packaging in the previous year.
  • ‘Packaging handled’ means all packaging imported with products as well as all packaging passed on to customers, with product. It covers all packaging, from transit cases and pallets to sheets of tissue paper.
  • Regulations require companies to register annually with the Enivronment Agency.

Health & Safety
 
  • Tailored health and safety policy for £20 saving at least £30.
  • Free helpline may save hundreds of pounds by avoiding incorrect health and safety procedures and reducing risks and claims.

Logistics
 
  • Savings on a wide range of warehousing, distribution and fulfilment services.
